AHDA is proud to sponsor the Alberta Closed Provincial Championship and Open competition each spring. Dancers chosen at this championship represent Alberta at the Scotdance Canada Interprovincial Championship each July. Alberta dancers have a long tradition of achievement and excellence both nationally and internationally.
AHDA is a non profit, volunteer organization supporting the art of Highland Dance in Alberta.
Originally formed as an organization to oversee Highland Dancing throughout the entire province, AHDA has evolved to become an intergral link between the local organizations.
AHDA is an associate member of the Scottish Official Board of Highland Dancing. All competitions in Alberta are sanctioned by the SOBHD

Marjorie Jean MacKenzie Cobban (nee Sutherland) was born in Aldershot England June 16, 1926. She was raised in Elgin, North Scotland and attended college in Aberdeen. In 1954, Marjorie and her husband immigrated to Canada and took up residence in Westlock, Alberta, where she taught highland dance to students in the area.

Monies recieved through this grant will be put towards venue rental and costs associated with the Closed Provinicial Championship and Open Competition.
